I’ve had a couple people who have had success buying or selling a coupe on this site ask if I would accept small finders or sellers fees. Of course I’ll accept, but do not feel in any way obligated. M Coupes are a passion of mine and while this site takes quite a bit of work to maintain, I really do enjoy all of it.
Guarantee: All money donated to this site will never be used to pay for time, web hosting, etc. It will all be deposited directly into my “Coupe Fund”.
I looked at this one in Chicago , but found that it had Frame damage and also Subframe issue when I had it checked at the dealership .
Thought it was good one and the seller agreed for $14K , but looking at the comments from the dealer , the cost of fixing the frame and sub frame is large .
Unless some one knows a good bodyshop to get it fixed , it would be a good deal to negotiate more as I have also notified about the damage to the seller

Thanks for the update Ravi. It could still be an ok deal for the right person. Randy Forbes subframe repair kit is about $3k installed.
Called the subaru dealer for this one and found out that the price is $21386
He said , he will put some pictures after the snow storm …

Thanks once again!

Thanks Ravi!

Bought the Coupe from Chicago and drove it back to Dallas this weekend.
Paid $14K for it . Needs some TLC and should be O.K after that .
Thanks for your research and keep up the good work .
FYI , I can be found on Bimmerforums as Sam355
Ravi
Congrats! Get it back to it’s rightful glory! 🙂

Not affiliated found it listed on Phoenixs Craigslist
Thanks Hugo! I hadn’t come across that one yet.
Jon,
I typed in two email addresses above and lost my whole message, so this is attempt 2.
I hope this finds you still enjoying your steel gray beauty.
It’s been almost a year since test driving the 2001 black on black in NJ. I saw where it was relisted and sold again.
This time I’m looking at the emeril blue salvage title coupe in Southern Pines, NC. I’ve sent the owner an email and expressed an interest in seeing the car and asked a few questions about it.
Judging from the comment that the interior was removed to replace the wiring harness, coupled with the salvage title, I’m thinking that the car was flooded or submerged.
In any case, I’m wondering if you have any candid thoughts about that car you’d be willing to share about the described setup and any suggestions for what I should look for if I manage to schedule a viewing. (beyond those you shared on the car’s page)
At your convenience,
Michael

Just found a beautiful 2001 LSB/LSB: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/2301735640.html Looks pretty hot to me.
Thanks Matt! That one must not have been indexed by Google yet as it didn’t pop up in my search.
Jon,
I just put my Coupe up for sale. No rush, but I’m planning for a ‘family addition’ and the Coupe isn’t too well suited to that duty. I used your site to find my car and I appreciate your work.

Thanks!

Thanks for the update. Good luck with the sale!
I forgot a few years back I had taken some “fun” photo’s of a model BMW Mcoupe. Here is my fav pic http://www3.telus.net/violette/GrabbedFrame10.jpg
I hope to own a full scale version soon.
Nice website!
cheers,
L
Very nice! It’s amazing how good the models can look in the right setting. Email me what type of coupe you’re looking for, and I can keep an eye out for you.
@Jon Martin
Thanks Jon (can’t spot your email addy on your website). I”m in BC, Canada. patiently looking for an S52. There are two 554 available around here – not sure I want to sink that much in to a hobby project non-daily driver car. But I might yet be tempted Cheers. Leo
Just re-listed my Dakar yellow II, 2000 on Craig’s List, which is currently listed here in ‘coupe purgatory’. A major restructuring in life’s grand plan is forcing me to say goodbye.
Thanks for the update Steve. I re-activated the listing. Good luck with the sale!
Just had a PPI done on this car: http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=280 which found the following:
Extensive subframe repair at the front of the car after a major collison. Can’t how well the frame was repaired without getting the car on an alignment rack but the steering wheel is out of alignment at this time. It’s not clear whether the car was also hit in the rear (rear bumper has been repainted) or if the collision was so violent that the entire car was twisted. The rear quarter panels are misaligned and the hatch is skewed to one side (not at the top but very visible at the bottom – suggests twisting.) The car has a noise when going over bumps that’s coming from the passenger’s rear area but isn’t being caused by the RSMs. The car exhibits a slight vibration at highway speeds.
The following needs to be replaced:
front calipers
engine air filter
rear hatch struts
seat sliders
coolant
M-mobility cartridge
floor mats
rearview mirror
Inspection I in a few months
The car has holes in the front and rear carpet where the rollbar was previously installed. No CD changer or amp are present.
Brake pads in the front are racing pads and squeal in routine driving.
Dent in door cannot be removed by PDR
Tires have 50% treadwear remaining
Thanks for the report John! I posted it.
Forgot to mention that the rollbar/cage and racing seats are no longer in the car.
I found this on craigslist Dallas:
http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/ctd/2304958698.html
Thanks for the link! That dealership takes really nice photos.
Jon,
I dropped the price on my 2000 yellow to 22,500, which is probably more in line with what they’re going for. Also added/changed some text in the add as posted on craig. Perhaps you could update?
Thanks.
Updated. Thanks!
http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=135 has been sold
Thanks for the update. Do you know who bought it?
how do i post to sell my m coupe?
im having a hard time finding how i would post it.
thanks
alexis
You can send me the information and photos to jon@mcoupebuyersguide.com or list it on classifieds site and send me the link.
Some more information about this car: http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=280
As per the original owner, the car was in a very large accident when it was hit in the right rear, sent into a spin and then into a concrete highway barrier. The right rear, left rear, left front, front subframe and suspension were all damaged. The car was written off as a total loss/salvage by the insurance company due to the extensive damage.
That makes more sense than what the current seller has been describing and accounts for the badly misaligned rear panels, the noise coming from the rear suspension, the repair to the front frame and the horribly twisted rear hatch.
Also, the rear bumper was replaced as well. Didn’t remember if the front bumper or hood were also replaced.
Thanks as always for the info John!
Jon,
Your site is outstanding and was instrumental in helping me find my M Coupe so I owe you some big thanks. So THANKS!
On Monday, May 9th we got up at 5:30 AM and my lovely wife, 10 year old daughter and I were on the road by 6:00 AM to go look at this car. The owner agreed to meet us part way but that was still a 6 hour one-way drive for us.
Saw the car and of course it was love at first site. We inspected the car, went for a test drive, made some negotiations and soon were headed back home….my wife in our SUV and my 10 year old daughter and me in our new M Coupe. 🙂
After the 6 hour drive home my girls were pretty tired and I am very thankful for them indulging me in 15 hours of driving so I could get ANOTHER car. They’re the greatest!
http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=348
I am at work now so I will post more about the car later. From my preliminary reseach I think the car if fairly rare. Not mentioned in the ad, it is a Sunroof-Delete car making it 1 of 10. It is also a Canadian market car that has subtle difference from US cars making it 1 of 4.
Maybe you can help confirm that Jon?
Thanks,
Brian
Congrats on the new M Coupe and thanks for the story! My son is only 3, so it will be a while before he can legally ride in mine which makes us both sad. I didn’t even notice that it was a sunroof-delete because it wasn’t mentioned and the photos weren’t added until a few days later. Nice find!
It looks like your numbers are correct.
32 Total in Arctic Silver over Imola Red (4 for Canada)
10 Sunroof Delete (3 for Canada)
There’s technically only 8 sunroof-deletes though as two of them were pre-production model year 1998s, and I haven’t confirmed that they were ever released for public sale. Congrats again on a rare coupe!
Jon,
I’m the new lucky owner of a 2000 M Coupe. It came with some custom wheels and I’d like to go back to the OEM’s. Do you know the color description for the 2000 Roadstar’s? Is it Hyper Silver?
Also, can you recommend a good wheel refurbisher where I can purchase?
Love your sight. Very helpful in my search.
Thanks, Arnie
Congrats on your new coupe! You are correct; S52 roadstars are hyper silver. Your best bet would probably be to watch craigslist and Bimmerforums classifieds as roadstars in good shape come up for sale all the time when their owners get different wheels. It will be much cheaper than from a wheel refurbisher.
Update on this one: http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=108
After speaking to the seller, he sounded EXTREMELY sketchy. No clue as to when or if the car was actually getting shipped to CA. Will ONLY accept cash (no bank/cashier’s checks) and will not allow a PPI. Will be listing on Ebay so a buyer will have to commit without a PPI.
No pictures available of the replaced hood, driver’s side fender or driver’s side door. Seller also claims to have recently re-damaged the hood. Refuses to take pictures but will take a video and capture frames when he has time.
He is legit, just not easy to work with. I talked to him and several of his potential buyers last time around. I was also forwarded about 100MB of videos of the exterior and interior which looked pretty good at the time. I’m not sure why he couldn’t do photographs which would have been cleaner and better quality. The lack of PPI is annoying. I’ve heard the Hawaii BMW dealers are basically worthless though. The re-damaged hood is news to me too.

This car sold for $27,000
Thanks again John!
Here is one not on the list http://bringatrailer.com/2011/06/09/bat-exclusive-4769-mile-bmw-m-coupe/
It’s on there: http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=114. It had just slipped down the list after not having much action in a while. Thanks!
looks like this one you still have up sold about 6/3/11

Oh man, you’re right. Thanks for pointing that out. I’ve been checking the Craigslist ad which is still there.
This car sold: http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=200
Thanks as always!
Saw this one today. looks like an enthusiast owns it
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/cto/2480314303.html
Thanks Kelvin. It does look like it’s been well taken care of.
This interior sure looks blue to me: http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=256
Notice the large difference in color on the steering wheel.
Looking at it on my laptop screen out of the sun, I think you’re right. I debated about it when I posted it, but I couldn’t tell clearly enough to overcome the law of averages. I guess it’s a pretty rare color combo.
http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=265
This one is sold
Thanks John. Know any details? I wondered what happened to it.
Not sure if you have this one yet.
http://newlondon.craigslist.org/cto/2539379371.html
Black with Black/Red 84k miles. No affiliation.
I had that one but not the color and mileage. Thanks Gary!
http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=238 is a salvage title. No details given by the seller as to the amount or location of the previous damage.
Thanks John
You may find this website helpful in your craig’slist and ebay searches http://www.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cgi I’ve found it helpful for looking at craigslist for more than my local area.
Thanks. I hadn’t tried that one before.
WBSCM9346YLC61238 = http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=238
Thanks John! So I guess it was originally titanium silver.
@Scott Zickefoose
And now Craigslist has written a cease and desist letter to jaxed.com regarding their craigslist searches….oh well there goes another good source…
So annoying… They should at least right a decent search of their own then.
found one for the list.
http://www.autotraderclassics.com/classic-car/1999-BMW-M+Coupe-464856.xhtml
Thanks Scott! I have that car, but I had not come across that listing yet.
found one:

Thanks Chris! That one actually sold finally a few weeks go. They must not have updated their site yet.
http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=9
@Jon Martin
I find a lot of this with some of the used car dealers – I wonder if they do it at times just to attract traffic….
I’m sure they do. I know Enthusiast Auto does not take their coupes off line until they have money in hand and the car is long gone.
http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=460
This car has the beige interior, not black.
Thanks John. I can tell I was trying to get it entered fast.
Hi John, I recently bought the M coupe advertised in Claremont, CA. I am now selling it for $11800 and I did not modify anything other than removing the tint on the front windows and the tail lamps. It doesn’t work if you have three kids. thanks
Thanks for the update! I don’t think it will last long.
Saw the ad. Thanks John. Is it possible to just link the photos from the previuos ad? I am not really computer savvy person.. I appreciate it.
I try to keep all the photos separate to avoid the rare occurrence of a previous seller not wanting their photos being used. I’ll add a note that people can see more recent photos of it in the previous listing.
Thanks John
Hi all,
Since buying my ’99 M coupe this summer I have been trying to buy a BMW 1:18 scale model but they are pretty hard to find. I finally found a listing for a guy that has 3 on Ebay. Two have been sold (1 to me!) so there should be one left although it isn’t listed yet.
Here is a link to one of the sales that have ended.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/290617183209?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_718wt_1185
Good luck,
Brian
I bought one too! I already had one silver one but hadn’t seen one in so long I couldn’t help myself. That’s a fortunate find as the last couple on the market sold for almost $300.
As for this car, http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=485, the seller did all of the body work himself after buying the wrecked car at auction. It shows up on the following database: http://www.salvagedb.com/search?q=WBSCN93491LK60181&srch=Search
Thanks John. I knew that guy was going to be buying it, and he has sold 2 other coupes that I know of. Do you think AutoCheck just dropped the ball with the title check?
This is a ’99, not an ’02: http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=482
I fixed it.
I didn’t know if you had seen this one. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/2733752952.html
Hope that helps,
Scott
Thanks Scott. I had that one listed a week or two again but the seller took the listing down. Looks like it’s still for sale. Thanks!
Hey Jon, updated my listing with photos I took yesterday. Hoping it sells quickly, in my opinion it’s an great deal at this price. But of course everyone has an their own opinions.
Hopefully I’m in another one in a few years.
It is a great deal! Your listing is updated.
I think this is the same coupe you just updates in Glendale, but this ad shows it for much less and says it has a salvage title:
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/cto/2828766745.html
Nice find Jeff! I think you’re right.
add this m coupe
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290666036807+&viewitem=#ht_947wt_1167
Got it, thanks!
Looks like that mystery m coupe from Oregon got a refresh and a little tlc, back up for sale
http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/2843495770.html
Thanks Jim! It looks much better. Not sure she should have raised the price quite so much though.
I test drove this and also took it into a shop to get an inspection (Haurys collision, great place).
http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=493
The bad:
Head gasket leaking slightly
Needs new brakes all around
Weird, very very ugly piece of wood glued to the dash. Needs new dash from what I can tell
Needs new clutch and possibly shifter. Does not shift easily
Tires bald, dangerously so (worst on inside rear) Careful test driving this one
Center console very loose
All tools and tow hook missing
Trim rubber around driver door in bad shape
Airbag light was on (reset by mechanic, probably nothing but worth noting)
Interior panel in trunk is really loose
Steering pulls a bit at higher speeds
Shifting knob just sits on shaft. Not attached
Both doors don’t close quite right. Just a little off
The good:
Body looks to be in good shape. Was raining (of course), but couldn’t really see any scratches other than under the front bumper
No cracks on the subframe. Has not been reinforced. There are a few extra tack welds, but the mechanic didn’t see how they would really help
Even with all these problems it was still fun to drive and I would buy it if the price were correct.
I’ll take another look at the report and update this if I forgot something.
The other person that wrote about this car gave very good feedback. I got the dealer down from 18995 to 18400. He is stubborn even for a used car salesman. I imagine this will stay on the lot for a very long time sadly.
Thanks a lot for the update Doug. Sounds like it could definitely use some TLC. If it were in great shape, the price would be fair, but it sounds like this could use some TLC. It’s too bad they are not willing to negotiate a little more since it’s been on their lot so long already.
http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=462
This car has sold. Called this morning about it.
Oh, and I forgot to say how great this site is! I just found it the other day and it’s been incredibly useful. Thanks!!
Thanks a lot for the update Doug. I’m glad the site has been helpful. Email me what exactly you’re looking for to jon@mcoupebuyersguide.com, and I’ll keep an eye out for you.
