I’ve had a couple people who have had success buying or selling a coupe on this site ask if I would accept small finders or sellers fees. Of course I’ll accept, but do not feel in any way obligated. M Coupes are a passion of mine and while this site takes quite a bit of work to maintain, I really do enjoy all of it.

Guarantee: All money donated to this site will never be used to pay for time, web hosting, etc. It will all be deposited directly into my “Coupe Fund”.

This one has sold as well. Called the dealer.

Going to try and pick up the one in Chicago for 18k. Looks nice.

    • February 13th, 2012 at 11:00 | #2

Thanks once again for the update. The one in Chicago would be one of my top choices. The previous owner’s photo is still my windows icon (has been since 2005 or so) and the current owner has taken very good care of it. Good luck!

    @Jon Martin
I have to say that I feel very lucky to have gotten this car. My then girlfriend (now wife) and I have thought M Coupes were one of the best looking cars of all time. Now that we are a bit older (and have jobs), the time had come to finally get one. As with many people who visit your site, I have been looking for a long time to find the “right one”. This one was it. The only compromise was not getting an imola red interior, but the care the previous owner took with the car more than made up for that.

Thanks again for maintaining such a great site! Your passion for these cars helps all of us with similar obsessions.

I appreciate it Eric. I love hearing stories of people like me who looked long and hard for the right one and finally found it. Email me some photos sometime.

Glad to see the description and VIN info finally corrected for this one. It’s NOT the pre-production 1998 Arctic Silver / Kayalami Coupe, nor is it a sunroof-delete. Just a color conversion using aftermarket seat covers.

    • March 4th, 2012 at 19:50 | #9

Yep, I confirmed with the seller. The original interior was dark gray and black. All the interior pieces are OEM other than the seats, which are honestly probably better quality than the originals.

I called about the M coupe in Eugene Or. yesterday, April 4, 2012, and was told that an employee had been our on a joy ride and bent a rear tire rim, that a new rim was on order that that once installed the salesperson would call. I would like to see and drive the car, but, have some concerns about the noted accident, the bent rim and what else might have been damaged and the number of times the car has traded hands.

    April 6th, 2012 at 16:08 | #27

The M coupe in Eugene has a broken passenger side front rim and tire damage. The passenger side rear wheel sits at about a 30 degree angle with the contact patch towards the differential, interesting camber set up. Apparently the dealership had problems locating the rims and the car has been sitting for some two months and could not be started. Also, the passenger side window only sits on the inside of the window seal; at the front third or so, the rest of the window sits outside the seal. I would appreciate any thoughts or comments.

    Hi,

I just found your site. Very interesting. I have a 2002 steel metallic, red & black interior. VIN LK61255. I bought in new, and my sons know (they want it badly) that I am going to be buried in my M-Coupe. Actually, it was my older son’s idea to buy one ( showed me a picture online i think); and I had always wanted an MBG-GT coupe, so this M-coupe fit the bill. It’s been a fantastic car. Always starts, goes fast, and gets the stares.

My advice, buy any coupe you can find! Don’t wait for the color and interior particulars as I believe they will sky rocket in price in next 5-10 years. Look at the numbers produced, drive one to the beach on a back, curvaceous road and snatch one up now. I will probably buy another one just for investment purposes.

    Happy motoring..

    John –

I bought an Evergreen Coupe last summer that was listed on your wonderful website. I noted your most recent Evergreen listing sez that you have never posted one of these cars before. I’m not trying to be picky, just providing some detail for accuracy.

My article on Dorkfest of 2011 was published in Roundel, in the April issue. I praised you and your website in the article.

I’m still enjoying my Evergreen coupe just like a little kid on Christmas morning with his wishtoy, and the color elicits amazement frequently.

I bet spring in CO is beautiful!

    – Mike Buhbe

    • April 26th, 2012 at 09:39 | #31

Hey Mike! I actually said there has not been an evergreen with evergreen interior posted yet. Yours has black interior right?

I saw your article, and I really appreciate the mention! I’m hoping I can pick up an extra copy from someone as I’m still not a CCA member yet (on my to-do list).

I’m glad you’re still enjoying your coupe. I feel the same way about mine too. Are you coming to Dorkfest again this year?

Typically how I’d do it is see that it’s a relatively common color combo overall then give it a bonus star for being an S54 and a bonus star for being a sunroof delete for 3 stars overall. S54s sunroof-deletes are tough though because, like with this one for example, there are only 9 like it. I may give it 4 stars.

Great site. Has helped me a great deal learning the particulars of my purchase. 2002 S54 Titanium Silver Metalic-Imola Red/Black Sunroof delete.Just turned 25,000 miles. What an experience at age 65. My dream fulfilled.
Question. Having done all the research my skill level allows I am unable to find anywhere listed the option of fog lights. I believe they are original as they not only are integrated well into the body but the button to activate them is integrated into the bottom right of the dash (below steering column with white lettering to indicate lights. Maybe I have just missed something in my searching. Last 7 numbers of vin LK61007.
    Thank you.

    Hey Jon,

I bought this M-Coupe from the owner in LA for 13,600.
    http://listings.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listing.aspx?ListingID=580

Side note: I bought the car sight unseen. Yea, I am that guy. I was sent several pictures and videos of the car. I specifically asked about the condition of wheels because I loved the BBS CH style on the Coupe. This is my second Coupe. I regreted selling my 1999 Estoril Blue with 24K miles ever since the day it left. After 10 Coupe-less years I thought this was the one at a great price.

I had it shipped to the East coast for 950 bucks. When it got here I immediately took it to get registered. I notice vibration in the wheel the first time I get it up to about 60. No big deal I think, the wheels are just out of balance. The car passes inspection.

First thing I do is take it to a shop which I have 14 years of history with to get the wheels balanced. After about 30 minutes the owner calls me back to the shop area. 2 wheels are bent and he can’t balance them. Great. He balances the other 2 and off I go.

Four days later I drop the Coupe off at VAC in Philly for ‘summer camp’. I bought the car to use it for a dedicated track car, hense the visit to VAC. Long story short, 2 cracked wheels, 2 bent wheels, a rear subframe that was completedly seperated from the trunk floor and tore a 5 inch crack in the rear frame rail. The wheels go out to get refurbished and the company won’t even touch them because they are to damaged.

The bottom line was $3200 for the rear subframe repair and $2800 worth of scrap BBS wheels. To make bad worse, the car was advertised with KW Variant 2 coilovers. Nope, it showed up with Variant 1. I contact the previous owner and explain the current state of affairs. “Call the shipping company because the wheels were fine when I put it on the trailer”. What about the coilovers I ask. “Sorry for the miscommunication”. I offered to ship the coilovers back to him because I had no interest in tracking the car with non-adjustable street suspension on it. I told him that he owes me $2000 for falsely advertising the car with KW Variant 2 coil-overs. “Sorry, I don’t have any money, and what would I do with the old suspension?”. He also blamed the rear subframe damage on the shipping company.

Bottom line, the previous owner falsely advertised the car and made no effort to make things right.

I post this in case anyone eles is considering dealing with him. Send me a message if you need his name.

After it is all said and done, VAC built an incredible track car. I have 5 days of track time on it now and couldn’t be happier. I smile everytime I walk out in the morning and see the Coupe in the driveway.

    • June 15th, 2012 at 09:26 | #44

Wow! That sucks! I’m glad you got everything sorted out. At least you got a good deal on it upfront. I have the seller’s name in the Facebook comments on the bottom of the page. I’ll be sure to look out for him in the future. I’m happy you are enjoying it now. I also hope your interior ends up with Gary as it would be pretty epic in his car.

Purchased WBSCM9334XLC61079 yesterday at a Lithia Employee price of 13k.

Condition was fair and had some issues. Nothing that isn’t covered by the Lithia Used Car 60 Day/3,000 mile warranty though. Car actually drives pretty well. I am a Technician at MINI and inspected it on a rack previous to the purchase. There were actually no leaks and the rear suspension was replaced with genuine parts including the disk brake shield.

They did sell it to me with a dead battery though….

Hi Jon. Just wanted to say thanks so much for this web site. I’m addicted. I started my M Coupe shopping about three months ago and figure it’ll be another couple of months before I actually get mine…though I would be driving Don Peter’s ’99 if I’d emailed him a bit earlier. Nice guy. Your site is a wonderful learning tool. Like so many other commentors I’ve wanted one for years but not been bright enough to just do it. So four months ago I sold my BMW motorcycle (before I kill myself). I figure I’ll end up with an S52 as they’re in my price range. I check daily. Soon, hopefully! Anyway, thanks a bunch. Kevin

JON – having been an M coupe nut for some time, I finally found my ride – YES, on your great website! A couple of weeks ago, after checking my morning Email, I clicked my MCBG bookmark, and there was the one I’ve been waiting for.
I bought the Evergreen coupe listed on Ebay that morning, in Jacksonville, Florida. The seller had three calls prior to mine, after a little conversation, I popped the question, and he accepted my offer. The car arrived in California today. It is exceptional. Im thrilled. I am totally in debt to you for steering me over to Ebay that morning. Even after finding the one, Im still watching your site daily. Thanks for all you have done for me, and the other M CoupeNuts.

    • July 23rd, 2012 at 13:42 | #64

    http://www.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listings/listing.aspx?ListingID=1272

Thanks. I wanted to comment on the CarFax. The failed emissions tests were because the engine was stone cold each time. The technician at the smog-test station had me wind up the engine over about a 15 mile drive, then bring it back at operating temperature. After I did that, the coupe passed. I’ll be sure to pass this info on to the next owner.

Also, I polished out the “nasty”ness of the scrape on the driver’s side. It did leave a dent that is also going to be easy to get out. The bumper repair shouldn’t be that big a deal either.

Clearly not a flawless unit, but as far as a driver’s-car goes, this is a gem!

Thanks for the listing and the exposure. I appreciate it very much.

    Hi Jon,

Thought I would give you some feedback on the M coupe I bought since your site has helped me find it.

I bought this car in October 2011 from Miami, FL and brought it up to Toronto, Canada. I am the 3rd owner, the car originally being registered in West Virginia. The car was as described in the ad except the seller forgot to mention a couple of things. The car has the subframe/diff mount fix. I later found out it is the second or third Z3M that Randy Forbes fixed and pictures of the procedure are available on his site.

The catalytic converters and rear O2 sensors were also removed by the 1st owner and replaced with an AA race resonator and O2 sensor simulators.

After buying it I did a bunch of catchup maintenance (wheel bearings, spark plugs, rear subframe bushings, brake pads and front calipers) as the car did sit for a while, the last owner only put about 10000 miles on it in 5 or 6 years.

Thanks for the service you provide through your site! It is a valuable resource to the community.

    • August 1st, 2012 at 10:19 | #72

Thanks for the update. I’m sure discovering a Randy Forbes kit was a very nice surprise. I think that’s every M Coupe buyer’s dream come true. I’m happy to hear it ended up in good hands. Enjoy your coupe!

some let me refrase that all the m coupes listed are so over priced you can get an m6 for what some of the pepole want for these cars i know thy are rare but come on 18000 for a 1999 with 112000 miles your nuts thats why 95% of the cars on here were listed for years these people need to come to a reality check cant sell a bmw with 240hp for 20000 bucks when you can get a 911 for 25000 lets get real pepole love the car but not for 10000 over priced

    • August 12th, 2012 at 12:04 | #82

Most coupe owners wouldn’t trade straight-up for an M6 or 911; I know I wouldn’t. It just depends on what you’re looking for in a car. Some definitely are overpriced, but most will probably sell close to asking as you can see in the sold section.

Went out to check this out in person: http://www.mcoupebuyersguide.com/listings/listing.aspx?ListingID=1262

The car-fax says that this was in accident. Yes there is some evidence of this repair still showing. Looks like the site was drivers side front end. Pushed back to the air filter box, that part needs to be replaced. Hood needs to be aligned, the drivers side gap is way bigger than the passengers side. Clutch seems to have a problem, can really hear the difference when the car is at idle and you depress the clutch. Car runs good. Front breaks need new roters.

Price advertised at $15,888 sales man wanted to start at $16,999. I offered $13,000.

I would put on an inspection before purchase.
