Hey just wanted to make an update: the ’99 M Couple with the white matte wrap was totaled about 2 weeks ago. A guy driving a dodge ram was “distracted” (texting on his phone) rear ended me at a stop light. The impact hit me so hard I flew into the car in front of me. Have pics if anyone is interested. The insurance company wrote me a check of $15.5k. Coparts is picking up the car.

Hey. Wanted to update as I’ve been lurking this site for a LONG time looking for a coupe, picked up the coupe from alexandria VA (supercharged cosmos). It’s in PERFECT shape- no interior wear, never drive in rain in his ownership (10 years fanatic about rust and it shows!) many common fixes done – sagging glove box, etc. Seller was a great guy and the supercharged s52 is a blast. Coupe forever!

Hello. My wife & I both have M Coupes, hers is a ’00 S52, mine is an ’01 S54. You might may not be a say we are an M Coupe “family”. Over the years we’ve both turned down lots of offers for our cars, as recently as last week my wife got approached 2 times in as many days. I’ve read everything I could on our cars & regularly ‘cruise’ the web sites for information. So I feel somewhat qualified to point out that one of your listings is suspicious. The Imola red ’00 from San Mateo CA may not be an M car. Did the seller provide a VIN?
If so I would check it, it’s likely to be a standard Z3 coupe. I’m apologize in advance if I get a little lengthy.
Several things are suspicious:
1 The ‘gills’ on the front fenders are standard Z3.
2 Nowhere in the photos do you see any M badging, hatch lid, instrument faces, steering wheel, door sills, shift knob, valve cover.
3 The distinctive red & black interior is not shown.
4 The door handles on M cars aren’t chrome & neither is the shift knob or door sills.
5 He keeps reinforcing the point the car has M this & M that. M parts can be added to any standard Z3 to create the illusion of an M car. The VIN is the ultimate arbiter.
6 He says the car has several S54 components, ’00 cars are S52s.
7 His ‘dyno’ sheet shows no engine # or VIN so it might not be his car shown. In fact, if you go to the manufacturers web site their dyno sheet looks the same.
8 The manufacturer of his supercharger didn’t make a M Coupe version of it’s supercharger, only an M3 3.2 version, which I’m fairly sure wouldn’t fit in the tighter space under the hood of the M Coupe. They did make a Z3 2.0 version for the standard car.
9 I find it suspicious he doesn’t include any under hood shots of the car’s biggest selling point, the supercharger.
10 Most of the sellers on your site include 12+ photos & up to double that sometimes. This seller shows 2 exterior & 1 interior shot, a cut ‘n paste copy of a dyno sheet & KBB page showing M Coupe values. While it’s of course the seller’s choice of what he puts into his ad, this ad shows several things that are suspicious & make one wonder “what’s he trying to hide?”.
11 Z3s selling on your sister Z3 web site are averaging $10K less than their M counterparts. Yet this seller doesn’t price his car like other forced induction cars on the M site, closer to $30K.
I think it’s because it IS a Z3, NOT an M Coupe. Again, I THINK he’s mis-representing his car, trying to get M Coupe money for a Z3 car.
I feel you owe it to your target audience, us the M faithful, to check the vin & set the record straight. I’ve been coming to your site for 3+ years & have recommended it to people who have approached me to try to buy my car. You ARE my trusted M Coupe authority. The collectability of the M Coupe is in it’s limited production #s. Z3 standard cars are not as collectable, as reflected in their pricing.

WE have a 2001 Z3 M Dinan stage 3 coupe
This a Dinan factory built car with with 48K miles
We know from the guys at Dinan there are only a few of these.

Hello Jon, We had opportunity to briefly meet you at the 2012 Dorkfest. It was an awesome event, albeit, it just wasn’t long enough. We met some nice people there from all walks of life and and course everyone had this love of our our BMWZ3 M coupe and coupe. It was our first time and we had visions of attending all future events.
Unfortunately, that would not be the case, your Dakar yellow coupe met and expected ending,, it breaks my heart that the little car is gone. I used the VIN check and she was a one of one.
Can you give us any insights how we can reach you in case we see one and would like have it inspected and checked out. We are mature drivers and will not be racing …. we have been known of drifting safe corners. Thanks for you time and dedication Jon
Color: Evergreen, Laguna Seca Blue (seemingly impossible), Darkar yellow. Heck we could be luck and find one. You;re website as been invaluable to us, all the information and what we have learned about this little specialty car. I’d like to email you in the future.

I had a PPI done on this one, appears that there may have been some minor body damage to the front and rear but was repaired really well. Other than that it’s in good shape overall. I already submitted an offer, if it isn’t sold before I get back to Hawaii, I’ll have me an M Coupe to match my Z3 Roady.
