The previous owners of this car did all the heavy lifting with upgrades. I am the 4th owner and all I did was fix some miscellaneous odds and ends, keep it clean, and drive it. The car was originally from Louisville Kentucky but moved to California in January of 2005.
This is a 2001 S54 silver on solid black sunroof coupe with just over 70,000 miles. This car is one of only 678 315hp S54 powered M Coupes that BMW produced for sale in North America. These cars were only available between 2001 and 2002. The earlier (pre- 2001) M Coupes were powered by the E36 M3 motor (S52) producing 240hp. The interior and exterior are both in excellent condition. Motor is 100% stock and well maintained. I have the service records since the car was new.
Work the previous owner did shortly before selling the car to me: Inspection II with valve adjustment, replaced rear shock mounts, installed H&R sport springs, flipped the front upper strut bushings for increased camber (owner #2 added the Koni adjustables), installed UUC short shift kit, replaced leaking power steering pressure hose, replaced front and rear rotors and pads, replaced both pre-cat oxygen sensors, and replaced all four tires with Nitto NT555.
The car has a recent set of OEM embroidered M floor mats, the matching cargo mat, and a BMW sunshade. An additional nicety is the BMW Traffic Pro stereo head unit which incorporates both turn by turn navigation and an MP3 player interface while maintaining a factory interior look. I added a Sirius/XM satellite radio antenna next to the GPS antenna under the dash and have the cable routed to the back of the center console. Owner #2 upgraded the subwoofer and door speakers and added a JBL amplifier to match the drivers. It sounds incredible but I have an original amplifier if one wanted to put it back to stock. The car has the factory locking remotes and alarm system. It also comes with a Conforti Shark Injector that was removed by the previous owner in an effort to isolate a check engine light. I replaced the MAF sensor immediately after buying the car and this cleared up the check engine light. The Conforti unit can be reinstalled in 20 minutes and maintains the stock rev limit and requires 91 Octane pump gas. I added a push button to enable the “Sport Mode” that switches to ECU to a more aggressive throttle curve. This switch is mounted in the center console with a factory switch for a clean OEM looking installation. Car has been inspected on a number of occasions by mechanics for rear sub frame/floor issues and there haven’t been any indications of any problems. Nothing needs to be done to this car and is currently located in San Luis Obispo.
